Using electricity

We use electrical energy for many different purposes. Electrical energy is very useful because it can easily be transformed into other forms of energy such as heat, light, sound and mechanical energy. Look at the pictures below.

Look at the electric kettle. Electrical energy is being converted into heat to boil the water.

This iron also converts electricity into heat.

The electric motor in the fan converts electrical energy into mechanical energy, causing the blades to spin.

The motor in this electric car also converts electrical energy into mechanical energy.

A light bulb converts electrical energy into light.

Speakers convert electrical energy into sound.

Electrical energy can be easily converted into other forms of energy. This makes it very useful to us. If you look around your home you will realize that many of the appliances and devices work using electricity including the television, refrigerator, fan, iron, lights, computer, phone and tablet.
