National flowers, plant and tree

The calabash tree is the national tree. It produces round gourds that can be used to make many things including bowls, cups and crafts. A calabash tree can be seen in the photo below.

Bamboo is the national plant. It can bee seen in the photo below. Its stems are strong and are often used in construction and craftwork.

The rose is one of two national flowers. There is a flower festival called the La Rose Festival which is dedicated to it. This festival is celebrated on August 30th every year.

The marguerite is the other national flower. There is a flower festival called the La Marguerite Festival which is dedicated to it. This festival is celebrated on October 17th every year.
