What is a noun?

A noun is a naming word. Nouns are names of things, people, animals, places and more. Some examples of nouns are seen below.

Things: table, bed, car, toy, shoe, dress, wood, rock, leaf, basket

People: man, woman, boy, girl, Michael, doctor, teacher, driver, student, Agnes

Animals: cat, dog, whale, fish, parrot, lizard, beetle, crab, butterfly, frog

Places: church, stadium, St. Lucia, school, kitchen, supermarket, England, classroom, airport, beach

Please note that the names of things which are not physical are also nouns. For instance the names of feelings, such as happiness and sadness are nouns.
