Noun phrases

A noun phrase is a group of words that functions as a noun. A noun phrase contains a noun (or a pronoun) and other words called modifiers. Modifiers may come before or after the noun and they provide more information about the noun. In the sentences below, the noun phrases are in bold letters.

  1. The big black cat is very friendly.
  2. That man is quite talented.
  3. “Come over here,” said the teacher.
  4. Good little boys don’t fight.
  5. Ke’Andre is watching his favourite TV show.
  6. The man with the brown hat wants to speak to you.
