There are many things that can be done to reduce water pollution including:
Proper disposal of garbage: Disposing of garbage in a proper way will reduce water pollution. Garbage should be put in garbage bins. Do not throw garbage into drains, rivers or the sea.
Organic farming: Organic farming does not use harmful pesticides, fertilizers or other such chemicals. Organic fertilizers (such as manure and seaweed) and organic pesticides (such as neem) are used which do not cause pollution.
Proper treatment of wastewater and sewage: Wastewater and sewage from our homes and business places can be treated to remove harmful substances before being released into the environment.
Recycling: Recycling materials such as plastic, glass and metals will ensure that less of these materials end up in our rivers, lakes and oceans.
Laws: Laws can be put in place to help ensure that industries do not release pollutants into bodies of water. These laws must also be properly enforced.
