Lever

A lever is a simple machine that is made up of a rigid beam and a fulcrum. The fulcrum is the supporting point of the lever. Look at the diagram of the lever below.

Levers can make work easier. Iin the lever above, if you push down on the point labelled effort, the load will be lifted. In this type of lever, the fulcrum is between the effort and the load. Examples of levers like the one shown above are a seesaw, a pair of scissors and a crowbar. Look at the pictures below. Notice that the fulcrum is between the effort and the load.

In some levers, the load is between the effort and the fulcrum. Examples of these levers are wheelbarrows, doors and nutrackers. Look at the pictures below. Note that the load is between the fulcrum and the effort.
