In this swamp, mangrove trees grow where saltwater and freshwater mix.

Swamps are usually found in low lying areas where water gathers. Many swamps contain fresh water. Some swamps near the coast contain saltwater.

Note: A swamp is a type of wetland. Wetlands are areas where the soil is covered with water or the soil is waterlogged either permanently or seasonally.
